Information and knowledge sharing in the emergency services differs from that of other organisations. The nature of emergency service organisations relies on timeliness, therefore information needs to be readily accessible in times of necessity and tension. Also, each emergency service organisation has its own system and way of sharing knowledge, however, these methods don’t always match up with other organisations’ systems, and this creates a conflict when information does need to be shared and different organisations need to work together.
This one-day forum will focus specifically on the issues at hand when it comes to information sharing amongst emergency service organisations. It will explore:
- The importance of sharing information throughout the emergency services
- How social media can be used for quick and effective information sharing
- Data quality and the importance of good data
management for times of emergency
- The benefits of connecting with the community and
sharing information with them
