In the current information age approximately 90% of documents are created and stored electronically and most business communication is now also electronic. Managing the life cycle of this large and ever increasing amount of electronic information is one of the biggest issues organisations are facing. Many have failed or neglected to implement storage, retention and disposal procedures and haven’t been able to change people’s beliefs and habits in managing electronically stored information (ESI).

The release of the Practice Notes has created new obligations for parties in producing ESI to the courts. Failure to identify, collect and preserve ESI (including emails, sound recordings, information held on websites, USB mass storage devices and mobile phones) will impact the whole organisation and will involve enormous costs if litigation strikes.

This two-day conference will provide you with valuable insights into the changed Australian eDiscovery landscape and arm you with techniques to:

  • Classify, store and retrieve electronic information
  • Develop policies and procedures regarding the management of ESI within your organisation
  • Set up a corporate eDiscovery team
  • Deal with cross-border litigation issues
  • Control the cost of electronic information management and eDiscovery
